He popped up the other day but think it was just a weird one off. You might get people creeping back now the lock in has been ordered.

Wonder what effect it will have on street crime. I wouldn't want to be in some county line crack house in Pwllheli right now. Two track suits, a change of underwear and a load of crack I can't sell.

Yeah I did used to like Dani behr. Didn't she set up a production company, called Alabama films? After true romance Patricia arwuette, who I also liked. There was a good word episode with Stephen dorff and Diane brill and they were talking about Diane's melons.

Even referring to breasts as "melons" is a linguistic mico time capable in itself.

is not like other people
i've been on a couple of tours of maybe 6 destinations each, once in japan, once in germany, "underground" (ie tiny gigs and budgets) and my experiences were very mixed.

most/all of the time you're skint which is obviously stressful.

you're turning up in a strange place to play music to people you don't know which does not lend itself to killer performances every night. especially since there are local acts who do know each other and how to party (and can go home to bed afterwards).

you're probably going to get sick of the people you're on tour with, chronically, at some stage, and there might be all kinds of funny politics and logistics (big deal this) and behaviours.

you're relying on the kindness of strangers when you stay places.

you might have the odd smashing gig, and most of the strangers i mentioned are perfectly nice people, but i've found it a recipe for stress, paranoia and desperation. i don't think i'd bother again. i'm too old for it now.

sorry if you wanted tales of international stardom and/or hilarious groupie/drug anecdotes, that's not what i got out of it at all!

Hehe, it's never as glamorous as it's made out to be on the edited reel is it?

Still, it's something I'd love to have experienced.

Funnily enough I got this in my YouTube feed this morning:

https://youtu.be/ZVidFIOL6NE

Quite a capsule in itself. Obviously not one that will be making any dissensians nostalgic, but it's crazy to look back at that time of stadium rock and how the band as product had evolved. What really caught me was how important it was for the band to be presenting themselves as always having this amazing time and living the dream. Which they probably were. That particular type of hedonistic dream, anyway. The other thing that caught me is just how Dutch the band all looked.

Cheers woops. Yeah that sounds like the sort of thing I was expecting, I've promoted a few gigs and the overwhelming feeling, most of the time, is logistical issues and ensuing stress when things don't/can't get sorted. I've never really been on tour, would like to. Would be doubly lovely if someone else organised it all. I did for a few summers in a row work a stand at a few festivals, which felt at times like being on tour.
