Just listening to a few Blazes now. That crunch mixed with the sweetness (and ofc musicianship) is the trick. The energy center. Two opposing forces. Delicious tension. A strong argument for analogue. Driving the inputs of the sampler a then running that hot into the mixing desk. Red light clippage. Third order harmonics for the nerds. Can't be done with 0s and 1s, yet. They're trying though

You can hear the difference in hardware and kit used. More bottom end, crispy tops/trebles and that lovely midrange incorporating keys and vocals. Not to over-fry the system aspect, but separation enhances all of these components back into a stonking whole

this early mike Dunn stuff is like the punk rock of house music. stripped down, raw, real lo-fi (not like this new genre), repetitive, with some acid squiggles thrown in once in awhile for good measure. I hope @thirdform would approve.
