Not really quar related, more 'bath thoughts' ...

Leo wrote MDGA in response to me saying dissensus was different 7 years ago and it made me think of the 'make techno black again' thing going round, as well as MAGA ofc, and then I thought about the 'Make X Y again' structure, where X is a proper noun and Y is an adjective.

You could just have a bunch of nouns and adjectives (eg popular Google search terms, recent dissensus popular words etc) and have fun swapping them round to see what you come up with. Someone like suspendedreason could make a program to keep updating it?

But then I thought what it meant to have that way of thinking, the idea of going back to something. Like a reversal of time. Similar to 'take back control'...

The idea that we had it, we lost it somehow, let's get it back. Like what is thst saying about us?

And made me think of how at the end of song lines, bruce chatwin says mankind's only possible future is to go back to the abel/remus gypsy/nomad model ie wander about in small groups. Mckenna says something similar, that it's either that or we go into space.

Stray thoughts.

it's an inherently conservative idea, isn't it? opposing progress? the whole notion of things were better back in the day (even if true).

and anyway, I though accelerationism was the cool thing nowadays.

the quest for comfortable familiarity? fear of the unknown? fear of being overcome and controlled by the other?

Yeah, nostalgic or time machine back to the good old days. Odd project but like I said, does sort of link to what some of the lads have said.

Reminds me of Boomers who say it was better back in their day and how shit everything is now, but who simultaneously believe nothing's changed and you can still just walk into a place of business and hand them your CV or buy a house on the median wage.

When looking to support the notion that society could be more congenially arranged , on a more equitable and cooperative basis, various idealists have looked backwards. Unfortunately as there is no evidence for any such thing they tend to look quite a long way back, typically pre-noeolithic.

‘I want to go back to what i think i was’ is not a worthwhile project but i dont suppose chatwin or mckenna meant it in the way trump/cummings do. Or at least mckenna was unsure as to whether it was as good as going to space.

dunno about Cummings but trump's MAGA has a clear racist undertone: make America great again like it was before all these black and brown people started getting all loud and demanding, before all these immigrants arrived and changed our neighborhood and stole our jobs.
