Most of my unhappiness stems from having low/no self esteem, I think. Both in what it stops me from actually DOING and what it makes me THINK about. (It makes me think about all the stuff I'm not doing.)

Is this chemical? Perhaps. It's obvious that when I get drunk or pilled up my self-esteem goes through the roof. (At first - with drink it can go right through the floor, too.)

You're more liberated than me and Barty so this doesn't surprise me.

Not really, I was sort of dragged there (no pun intended, because there were drag queens there). Me and my dowdily straight mates were just sat in the corner feeling uncomfortable giggling and smirking to get rid of the anxiety.

I went to a gay club once in Brighton. It had the most stunning women in it that you've ever seen.

The music was absolutely abysmal.

Having been to many gay clubs, I can assure you that the music varies just as it does in 'straight' clubs! Sometimes amazing, sometimes shit.

What were you anxious about?

But seriously? I can't believe you lot can't conceive of going to a gay club, it's hilarious. The final frontier...

It's obvious what he was anxious about isn't it. Youre going into a different world with different rules and you feel out of place and square and like a big grey pudgy sausage and you think everyone will notice and laugh at you for your shit clothes and your painfully inhibited body language and your palpable fear of being bummed.

It's like the first day of school. Fear of the Unknown. Will you be accepted? Will you be laughed at. Will you be ostracised? Will you misunderstand the rules and make a massive faux pas? I think everyone knows why Corpsey was nervous. Anyone would be.

It's all true though. Many a het has never, ever come out of a gay club upon entering, for he was swallowed, whole, and digested, for food.

@the first day of school comment: not true, only people who've never been to a place where they're in the minority

Or it's like being in a Chinese resturaunt and thinking everyone is laughing at you for your big clumsy oafish western body and inability to use chopsticks. Big hairy barbarian idiot. These are normal fears.

and you were anxious about it?

There's a specific fear about sexuality going on here too, to point out the obvious - what if you (in the general sense) were to find men attractive, what then?!
