You could look at the revival of 50's aesthetics in the 80's as a final good bye to the era of post war stability and its corresponding technological infrastructure. In that sense the current 80's revival looks the same- the completely virtual overtaking the digital/analogue hybrid and its corresponding brand of neoliberalism devouring itself.
