Not everyone on social media was pleased about the very public display of affection, as one Twitter user wrote: 'I love being gay, but no one needs to see two dudes f***hing a Cadbury creme egg.

'It's a bit much. Representation is one thing (and important) but this feels performative and exploitative. Like they wanted to use these gay men to create controversy so that people are talking about the product.'

There's a range of different responses you can have to it and Twitter will give voice to them all, inevitably.

And yeah I can elaborate upon that explotation argument. Its totally unnecessary, right? Unfortunately feathers will be ruffled merely by the representation of sexual minorities period, but that feather count raises by at least an order of magnitude when its such an erotic representation, no? Eros is not necessary to sell chocolate eggs. The whole thing is a mess.

I did laugh when I saw the actual image. It seems like something designed to rile up exactly the kind of people who read The Mail.

So it reinforces the gay=transgressive equation that seems to underpin most, if not all, socially reactionary perspectives, no? Hence both social progressives and social reactionaries are reasonably irked by this.

That too. And there's a kind of dynamic you get locked into as I was saying to Danny this morning

You just keep scrolling and commenting until something gives you a dopamine hit then you do it again.

no but for real, I'm not sharing my Creme Egg with anyone, they're nearly £1 these days and you get hardly anything for it now, that's a treat for me and me alone.

I hate that. They keep shrinking everything and putting the prices up. Aren't Freddos more expensive now and they're a weird shape to disguise being smaller?

I love the little Creme Egg bars you get in tubs of Heroes.
