I never developed a taste for John Woo. I don't really like slow-motion as a cinematic device which is the main component of his visual aesthetic.

18. Space Opera, Holy River

First heard this in an OPN mix for FACT in 2010. Dunno whether they did anything else this good as I never bothered to look, but one great song’s more than most of us manage anyway. Music for lovely weather.

Yeah, but about fifty minutes of the film's people diving around in slow-mo shooting at each other. If it was just that scene for two hours, Craner would be in his element.

Hands in the air. I don’t even mind the cheesy vocal. In fact, I love it.

Your write-ups are getting shorter, to the point of nonexistence. Don't wear yourself out, now.

The music is good but the words are what really matter IMO.

This is a tune I feel I should hate just from looking at how he’s dressed on the cover, but I don’t. I really don’t. Admittedly the snare’s far too intrusive, particularly for a member of a band regularly praised for the quality of their sound, but other than that… The only downside is it makes me feel like a middle-aged man who tucks his shirt into his trousers.

Also he dresses like my dad and his mates. They all dress like that and go to pub jam sessions and play Sympathy for the Devil.

Luka already knows about the beaded driver seat.

I think when I told Luka and Barry about that Barry said my dad was Nigerian.
