Cyborg's pretty mad right off the bat. There's already been crucified nude men and women and some guy being beaten and killed by a cyberpunk gang and warlord.

oh yeah it's pretty great the way it manages to shove every 80s grimdark trope into one film

behind the scenes is pretty wild too

it was going to be a sequel to the itself batshit crazy Master of the Universe - starring Lundgren and my dude Frank fucking Langella as Skeletor

but the ultra shady dudes running Cannon Films lost the rights so it wound up switching mid-stream to this probably better movie

It's got the same feel as stuff like Salute of the Jugger, Hardware and Johnny Mnemonic.

Masters of the Universe btw, is another enjoyably terrible 80s action flick btw

live-action He-Man, heavily ripping off Flash Gordon, starring Dolph Lundgren (and a young Courteney Cox!) before he could really speak English

the costumes are insane (they were so onerous they literally almost killed some of the actors), the plot makes no sense

but Frank Langella as Skeletor is great. he goes full no-fucks given scenery chewing and it is GLORIOUS.

listen to my dude make every line sound like a soliloquy from goddamn Hamlet

and he was the stupid kangaroo man in Tank Girl

Ice T really cornered the mid-90s market on absurd roles in terrible adaptions of beloved cyberpunk literature

Johnny Mnemonic, such a let down tho

not like it should've been impossible to adapt

but then one reflects on the staggering number of terrible Philip K Dick short stories

It's kind of cool at first, but by the end you've got that psychic dolphin in the tank, Dolph Lundgren's some sort of cyborg monk/barbarian and God knows what else.
