the ma1 mix posted somewhere earlier is a stand out, although a little too fast to be definitive of this sound tbh

'upper echelon music'

no one interested in the sa stuff na?

can get a lot of the sa stuff on fakaza, zamusic, bamoza- some of it under afro tech on there- if you can be bothered digging through some music that doesn't really fit into this, as well.

Corpsey

bandz ahoy
Listening to the supa d set I definitely like this music but (on the harder, UK funkier side of things) it never seems to quite lift off like funky did, it's more of a serious moody vibe than carnivalesque, with these single notes/chords that they hold for ages/perpetually over the basslines.

This is pretty much where I'm at with at it. A lot of the flavour in UK Funky that came from r&b, dancehall, pop, grime and garage influences is largely absent here afaict. Would probably be better to disconnect it in my mind from Funky altogether and just accept it on its own terms, but that's not really possible, at least for me. Also I've never really been that taken by SA house so I guess your mileage may vary depending how much you like that.

I love Marcus Nasty, need to start listening to his shows again, I stopped in about 2011 when it all turned into flavourless uk bass house whatever. Does he still have Shantie and Rankin on?

his show on rinsefm spotlights genres across the board via guest mixes, really good snapshots of whats going on in a bunch of different scenes

flexfm is house with mcs, sometimes shantie, rankin, riskgo, ramzee, frost etc

scratcha tweeted this the other day, been meaning to give it a listen
