Did America invent the crime fighting hero? It's weird all these superheroes with nothing better to do than fight petty crime. Does it date back to the sheriff on the frontier? Or am I forgetting important European precursors? All I can think of is Sherlock Holmes and that's a bit different than Batman Punisher Robocop etc

They actually work as films. You don't keep looking at your watch while they're on. Robocop felt like a slog.

I love Starship Troopers, can't say that RoboCop or Total Recall made a particularly strong impression on me.

I'm more of a Predator/Kindergarten Cop guy. You know, a simpleton.
