But part of what I'm arguing is that it can be contained, harnessed, in a metastable state. Rather than exclusively taking some unstable appearance. Again, I'm far from substantiating this in any way but conceptually, but on the other hand I don't want to grant the scientific consensus absolute authority here.

There may be oblique and uncanny benefits, spiritually, to such states. As inferable from that study that @Matthew shared recently, about the connections between hyper-religious psychopathologies and hyper-dopaminergic neuropathologies.

Robert Sapolsky, in his Standford course on human behavioral biology, also suggests that certain psychic states, despite being diagnosed as pathological, can have strengths which aren't given the space to flourish, seeing as the social system is built around radically different psychic standards.

i got deathly close to true psychosis once; I share the image because it’s funny to me—being psychotic by definition means an incapacity to determine your current state, right?
What was your experience, if you're comfortable sharing it?

The craziest thing is that I don't seem nearly this crazy in person. Thats perhaps the biggest hurdle, digitally, when it comes to communicating this stuff. For all I know, I come across as a totally dysfunctional lunatic whose psychic prescriptions are to be avoided like the plague. Granted I still have a ways to go, but mind you these are dispatches from certain depths of metastable psychosis.

and @beiser I've only a thin understanding of clinical psychosis, for what that qualification entails, and I try to distance my usage conceptually by disclaimers such as "artificial" or "metastable", but I do think it is possible to drive yourself into psychic states that would qualify, clinically, as psychopathological.

All part of the larger framework-of-departure. What power does a clinical diagnosis have? Just how substantial are the assertions made by such and such expert? What are the forces compelling you to conform psychically? etc. A lot of overlap with my understanding of magic, as a sort of navigation and manipulation of psychic energy, the manner in which one's reality impresses upon them.

if you haven't read "Retreat" my booky-wook you should. the definition of what is or isn't psychosis (and the cultural background to that) is the meat of the thing. there's also a practical dimension to coping with/understanding those states which became apparent to me after voluminous research of that 1955-1975 window.

there are very obvious benefits for the mentally-imbalanced states of both mania and inflation (one introverted the other extroverted). no benefits for their negative corollorarys psychosis and depression.

there may be some connection to here to deleuze and guattari's contention that the schizophrenic is the "avenging angel of capitalism"

mania is common enough in the creative universe (katy perry anyone?) and inflation is key in politics (the donald)

Biden's pick to be director of national intelligence, Avril Haines, was also a principal and consultant at WestExec. Haines reported $180,000 in “consulting fees” from Palantir, a data-mining company that has had government contracts with agencies like U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The Silicon Valley-based company was founded by Peter Thiel, a prominent pro-Trump conservative in the tech world.

Americans are living through the restoration of their deposed oligarchy. President-elect Joe Biden has nominated a Treasury secretary who used to chair the Federal Reserve. His choice for secretary of state is another Ivy Leaguer and fixture of Washington. His top economic adviser is an executive at BlackRock.

Well this is what I was vaguely expecting when I voted for him. Again, I still have no substantial understanding of these people or their high profile operations.
