'slowly worked til exhaustion' = similar to weberian 'iron cage of bureaucracy'. disaster capitalism = update of marxist revolution idea

the tweets do make it seem like its a part of some literal conspiracy of bureaucrats but it hard to imagine the U.S. getting police reform in any other way, with police procedures and budgeting remaining largely the same while internal auditing programs and positions are tacked on- expanded period based training programs, more frequent and detailed performance evaluations, offices monitoring precinct culture/sensitivity, others designed for precinct-community communication and accessibility.

Was there not some talk of massive private campus police forces for certain companies during all this? I cant find the links.

And I actually ordered Lasch's Narcissism yesterday, having never heard of him prior as well. Has anyone read it?

in my view neoliberalism isnt really about delegitimizing the state so much as a reformulation of it - an alternative constitutional form

Mark Fisher, in Capitalist Realism, writes about how adept capitalism is at absorbing and redirecting all forms of anti-capitalist resistance. Adbusting becomes another form of advertising. "No logo" becomes a logo in itself.

There's something different afoot this time, though. Capital's amplification of certain kinds of anti-capitalist critique lately seems passionate and urgent. Has it seen in these critiques the doorway to an even more lucrative and exploitative system of economic relations?

We will miss neoliberalism when it's gone. And I say that bitterly and sincerely.

Another of Vim's alts.
I wonder if neo-liberalism is the last fully human system of economy. Whatever is next will either be more machine than human. "Humans are the sex organs of the machine world" will be replaced with "Humans are the strap-on of the machine world."

You don't half find some bovine nonsense where the author redefines terms to suit their own agenda do you version. 🤣

Anyway, this is not what permanent revolution has historically meant.
