I assume those are much wider but I guess, now you say it, that they could well include the one nostril thing as an individual skill that, in conjunction with others, makes up a whole arsenal of different breathing techniques.
I guess lots of sports you need to control your breathing; I know zilch about swimming but presumably there is an optimal pattern and rhythm, archery and probably shooting you slow down your breathing to lower your heart rate or something I think.
But I've never heard of controlling which nostril you breathe through.... though, arguably, I guess it is at least theoretically possible that there is something that exists which I have never heard of.
