I read once that Donald Bradman is the most dominant sportsman... I guess in terms of standard deviations from the mean. His batting average was 99.4 (I think he needed 4 on his last innings to average a century... but made a duck) and the second best is about 60. Whether cricket is a truly international sport in terms of the countries that play it seriously I dunno... though come to think of it the same is true of ice hockey and I'm sure cricket has a bigger audience.Has anyone been as dominant in a sport as Gretzky? I dunno whether his Wiki's still accurate, but this is absurd;
"Gretzky is the leading goal scorer, assist producer and point scorer in NHL history and has more assists in his career than any other player scored total points. He is the only NHL player to total over 200 points in one season, a feat he accomplished four times. In addition, Gretzky tallied over 100 points in 16 professional seasons, 14 of them consecutive. At the time of his retirement in 1999, he held 61 NHL records: 40 regular season records, 15 playoff records, and 6 All-Star records."
