My Wife and Kids with one of the Wayans brothers used to be on TV over here a fair bit, had a similar feel to something like Two and a Half Men and Everybody Loves Raymond.
i guess somebody else watched Trouble

yes in between repeats of One on One, the hughleys and All of Us

shit the Parkers used to be on there that's where Mo'nique got her first big start and that was a spin off of Moesha which was Brandy's big sitcom

its don't be a menace...its always been don't be a menace you should watch Martin aswell because Martin was HUGE with black people

Martin Lawrence was a big big deal once upon a time

The first time I became aware of the aura Chappelle had developed and that sort of conspiracy theorist following was when I caught that clip of him talking about Lawrence's breakdown on Inside the Actor's Studio,

seriously how the fuck have you not watched any of these shows @Corpsey ? when i think about it black people were SPOILED as far as sitcoms in the 90s and early 00s

Corpsey

bandz ahoy
Wow forgot about Chapelle's show. I've seen a lot of skits from that though never really the show itself.

I really liked the Eddie Murphy movie "Dolomite Is My Name".

I can't remember Martin being on terrestrial TV when I was growing up. The reason I saw Fresh Prince was it was on BBC2 all the time.

i imagine alot of the jokes in My Wife and Kids have aged badly but at least that made me laugh, Raymond never made me laugh ONCE

The only British show I can think of off the top of my head is The Real McCoy with the Jamaican dubbed Doctor Who and Mr. Frazier.

Moesha was excellent, right up until the last season and a very particular episode four or five in where it suddenly becomes very, very bad. Brandy and Countess Vaughn are fantastic and Sheryl Lee Ralph does amazing things with a one-note character.

(tell me you wasted time in lockdown without telling me etc)

Sister Sister is really odd because Jackee Harry has incredible comic timing and the character of Lisa Landry is a gift, but the rest of the show is abysmal, truly some of the worst "comedy" ever made.

hey hey "Go home rodger" is iconic and don't disrespect Tim Reid like that he gave the world Frank's Place which i've wanted to watch for years

yeah the writers decided to bring in some bullshit storyline about how Ray J's character was the dad's hidden son and against the cast begging them not to go along with ti they did

Girlfriends is astonishing, what if Sex And The City but it's all black women, and instead of being fashionable and enviable they're all shrill and bitchy and unlikeable, and what if even though the show is about women and sisterhood we still insist on having a fucking man in the opening cast credits?

(I don't even like SATC)
