if white people had a "white people only music awards", we'd be racist. i must admit most of the music i listen to is from black origin, and the white origin awards would probably be full of indies. still, gets on my tits. atleast the main acts never showed, some justice.

christ.

i'm no big fan of the MOBOs but this argument is just plain daft. firstly - there's been plenty of white winners of MOBOs, and secondly there are lots of "white people only music awards" - brits, nme, q, mojo etc etc.

How dare the thriving, multi-billion pound british black music industry hold an awards to try and give some of the artists some form of accolades when they have such a vice like grip on the mainstream music press and industry awards. It's like taking all our jobs and women isn't good enough for them?!?!

HOW DARE THOSE UPPITY COONS! IT MAKES MY ARYAN BLOOD BOIL!

but uhhh the mobos isnt 'a black people only' awards. you get non-black people winning/nominated and performing too. or have you never watched it?

theres indian and chinese etc etc food/restaurant awards - why cant there be black music awards?

i think the mobos is a bit of a joke really - the way they cant ever quite get that balance between their commercial desires and properly representing the music they claim to do, but i still like that its there just to give some recognition to artists who otherwise wouldnt have it.

the mobos should have come out with a better (or just less clunky) name, but its hard to think of how else to group all the genres it has awards for other than the stupid urban title.

good article on them -

white people do? theyre called the brit awards?

outside of the international categories where sometimes they let black rappers or beyoncé win (and, lol, "best british urban", which still managed to be won by joss fucking stone) there hasn't been a black british winner since ms dynamite in 2003

im looking forward to that maniac/tinchy cd. although id prefer it tinchy stopped doing solo stuff and ruff sqwad did something together - roachee upstages stryder quite easily on the single.

interesting about the 6 vocals/6 instrumentals idea, but that just sounds like an ep to me, not an album! (still prefered tbh - better that than loads of filler).

their sound system is awful

Agreed, luckily they had got a Function-One system in for the night.

The Bug's selection was so good and Flow Dan... wow.

P Money should be doing a live PA in the new Uptown next weekend. They cancel at the last minute quite a lot and I think you could only get 20 people in there but it should be good if it happens.

I met up with him to talk about Grime, and he was fully representing the sound. Didn't sound interested in making other stuff at all, unlike other grime producers who are experimenting with other sounds.
'three crows' sounds like a dubstep tune to me.
