GRIME- breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

Grime's fuckin dead, it's so sad.

Have you heard the Chipmunk beefs? The best that has happened is that Devilman called out Chip saying he was a transvestite. We called out fuckin Blackdown years ago sayin we were gonna fuckin stab him and Badness and his crew in the eye with a stilletto heel if they fuckin came with that sort of shit perpetuation and it's still happening, and well, look at Badness now. Mentally ill.

Is it cos the people sending for Chip are, like, from Birmingham and stuff, cos I heard it was well backward up there, cos it is a minor, man is still on craigslist when they shoulda been on Grindr.

lol

Grime is teenage stuff - nostalgic, petty beefs, house parties - I don't think it will/should act grown

Even the most advanced stuff - early Dizzee, Young Dot - is rooted in that, with a load of precocious complexity thrown in and the music existing in the contrast

Skepta's Devilman diss is the best he's sounded in ages, and that's not even his best Devilman diss.

On a side note, because Peter was so positive, I actually think Maxsta has gotten SO GOOD this year. Before I just thought he was 'cute', y'know, nice, ok. I remember his song telling his mom he was gonna stay away from crazy friends and all that, lmao.

But I saw him on some BBC set with Scrufizzer and Scru who I like was just eating dust. I'd never known Maxsta to be that GOOD.

So far some of the best grime MCing I've heard all year has been from Ghetto, So Large, Mez, the kids in YGG, and Max.

Eh, I'm less vitrolic than I was when we first discussed the road rap dudes with pasts in grime, but I still think its better now that you can conceivably believe you can make money in either scene, and not just both?

Actually its a little better because it feels like now the guys doing road rap want to make road rap, and the grime kids want to make grime. Less awkward rap flows in the latter I pray and a little less overflow in the former.

Lol I know, but transvestite? Even Young Thug is on a trans tip nowadays. Keep up, grime. Aim high.

Yeah, we threw the rights to that out when we let Skepta get away with the chorus "TRANSVESTITES! MAN DEM IN DIS-GUISE" and great role model JME said the bars "I'm not concerned with your sexuality/but how dare you try and trick me!"

village elder.

This is well worth a watch.

I really like how much deep personal love and affection Skepta has for Request Line. When it gets dropped at 9:40 he reacts like he's just witnessed his child walk for the first time; pure pride and happiness!

One of them definitely hooked up with a transvestite on that trip to Dam and my money's on Jammer...

He's also got that lyric

"put a 95 year old granny on the table for 25 bags ill beat it"

say what you want about what hes done the last 10 years, but all the new kano tracks ive heard are firing.... im pretty amazed. i thought he was done. the flow is much messier than it used to be, but its better than him trying to sound like jay-z.

This is what we call "fantasy" because all these Kano songs are, like so many other Kano songs, crap. Bad hooks, over-affected "Kano Voice". He always sounds like a motivational speaker. I'm not talking about in the Jeezy way, I'm talking about "And you too, (huh) can learn to make it like me because WOW! Once I was poor, once I had to worry about beyond my front door and now I got creps you never seen before and now my mom will never ever want for more!"

All over the beat at odd angles with no sense of placement. This is your nation's downfall, you guys hear a guy doing mutliple flows but who has never bothered to figure out to write TO a beat. Negative impact of pirate radio as a gestation.

everyone knows all that. people have been saying that for about a decade. but regardless, youre imposing that all too easy theory onto these songs, when its prob time to relax it. cos yeah the flows are a bit of a mess, but they sound GOOD (i dont see it as awkwardly placed, i just see it as a bit inconsistent, and yknow, a lot of the most memorable sets were basically guys not really fitting the beats that well but sounding hype while trying)). which is all that matters ultimately. hes got presence again, he sounds comfortable, and like hes out to prove something again. he doesnt sound inhibited or like hes trying to be something hes not. doesnt matter if theyre 'good songs' or not, its just kano rhyming for rhymings sake on some decent beats, and doing it well. grime isnt really like hip hop, its not about writing to the beat (though obv sometimes i wish it was), or any of that, its just about vibe.

I feel bad b/c when Cadell makes the "EHEHEHEHEH" face, he gets the William Cocaine Snarl face and I'm like "Jesus, they are brothers..."

Usually he's not that great, but this was good.
