Did anyone hear about the break-up of Essentials Crew? Remedee and Bossman were talkin bout it yesturday on Rinse live sorta addressing the rumors about it on air since i guess alot of folks out in London were talking about it and stuff. Kind of a sad moment in Grime to me. I mean, on one hand thats a natural thing for crews to break up sometimes since things evolve and people start to see things differently for what they want out of their lives. On another tip, its kinda sad to see a group people look up to disband especially with a scene as small as the Grime scene.

Hope the best for the crew. Im sure most of them will stick to the music thing.

the grindie mixtape from statik is out now i think... not heard it but it looks interesting and like an actual 'mix' tape, not just a bunch of tunes people arent confident enough to release as proper albums.

So whats worth getting out of the latest slew of mixtapes?

There's Demon, Stryder, Dogenham, JME, Bruza, Ghetto all out now - which are the best?

not really. the downloads that do the rounds on the forums seem to be off the rinse internet live stream, which is always bizarrely fuzzy and low quality. really pisses me off how shit rinse reception is nowadays, especially now they've moved it to 100.2, so it sits almost right on top of kiss.

Rinse was only 100.2 for about 8 days, thats probably why. its back on 100.3

definitely get tinchy's one: loads of big ruff sqwad beats, and he's excellent through out- it actually works more like an album than a mixtape.

ghetto's one is good but VERY dark and very hardcore. it's kind of impressive but not much fun.

That's what I want when I listen to Ghetto ;)

In fact, with Roll Deep not being on rinse and Ghetto being all over Fuck Radio and on recent Ruff Sqwad sets, he's probably overtaken Skepta as my favourite MC right now. i love his No Base vocal too.

The cover of the Tinchy one scares me because of how much he looks like Canibus, but it should be good. probably get that, Ghetto and Dogenham - reckon an entire mixtape of JME would drive me up the wall.

Statik reminds me of my boy nii-o at about the

age of 15/16 when your exploring yourself, finding out about other scenes and moving out of the known stereotypical boundaries of what it means to be black/african...I dunno if I should really be typing this actually lol....exposure! Good on Statik though - at least he's trying something different...terrible name though...

Sama do you really think this music is the best in the world?

.

just got it today... very solid stuff, dig the underground remix ("ground-under") and the "still tippin" remix is nice... i could have lived w/o "uptown girl" and would have liked "i'm back" or whatever that track is from the underground video... but, in general very solid... nice mix of beats, some ruff sqwad ones, some wiley ones... yr right, it does sound like an album...

Not a scoob. I believe the logistics are still being arranged.

On another note, Creeper Vol 2 is now up on my myspace. Grindie to follow when this FTP server wants to co-operate!

no way!!

if this Dogenham disc doesnt have 'Nightshift' on it im gonna be pissed..

i agree with Logan, No Base needs to come out on CD. hack into JME's hard-drive, mail it off to a pressing plant, and pay him of once it sells, if thats what it takes..
