Not got mine yet either, but then I only posted mine of the other day so I can't really complain. I hope whoever gets my tape a least likes some of it... !

I'm still sulking - I coulda painted a masterpiece on my cover if I'd have know you'd all spend a month staring at your blank tapes. How do you people ever get anything done?!

I'd like to say I have an actual life and got tied up with the real world, and just didn't have the time I thought I'd have to make the tape. But I'd be lying.

And god, I forgot how long it takes to make a tape. Getting the times right, re-recording bits, practising mixes, and thats after you've planned it all out.

Oh wait, i missed this whole thread until now.

If there is anyone still wanting a mix tape, i would love to make one/receive one.

God, i miss that shit. I still consider that my first djing....i would make em for myself.

well, er, admittedly I didn't do anything as swish as mix tracks or get the times right, or re-record bits, or even account for when the tape would run out...erm....but...erm....

We used to have discussions about which was better:

Fill up all the space on the tape, and have the last song cutoff, or leaving a bit of blank space at the end?

Both sides have their positive sides. Myself, i try to find one of those little song snippets that come on albums for the end, but invariably there is space at the end.

And now im torn....
do i use my mixer, and hhok up cd players, turntables, and my laptop nd do a grand mix, or go old school style with the pause button?

I was browsing in abook shop today and spotted Thurston Moore's 'Mix-Tape: The Art Of cassette Culture'.

its more of an 'art book' affair than anything else, and of course made me really angry that i didn't look after all those carefully crafted tapes people did for me in the 80s/90s.

its nice enough, but not essential.*

*if i remember correctly the byron coley entry is hilarious, but you could read that in the shop

bumping this up...

just got home after a few days away, hoping to find my tape sitting on the door mat... but no joy :(

Has everyone else mostly got theirs yet? Whats going on with the review blog/thread?

PS well done on finishing your thesis minikomi.

still waiting...curse you men with jobs and responsibilities and problems with access to tapedecks and complicated plans on how to mix things! I'd be happy with a buggered copy of Rick Astley remixes at this point....

um, i stand guilty of not sending out mine (ex-housemate took the tape deck with him when he left, making things difficult), but on the flipside haven't received mine yet....
