Assorted sleeper, lift to experience and saturday looks good to me pre-lectures,
Cassette of a roll deep set from summer in my walkman between classes,
then some bright eyes when I got back, and that's been about it.

luke, calling Doloroso 'ex simian' is unfair - the core of them predate simian by years...

oh.. I didn't know that. i thought they were a new band, with some members of simian. anyway, its pretty good.

does anyone have any Rai they would recommend?

on rotation:

Arvo Part - Tabula Rasa

Evan Parker and September Winds - Short Stories (calm and lovely free jazz with all wind instruments)

Uton - Whispers in the woods (3 discs of Finnish improvised psych-folk)

Coh - Enter Tinnitus (Rastor-Post)

ø - Tulkinta (Sahko)

Pimp C - Free Pimp C

3-6 Mafia - Most Known Hits, Most Known Unknown

and a ton of kraut-rock re-issues.

it's not Peking Opera is it? I can't stand that stuff. but love the solo Gu-Zhen and Ar-Hu.

sweet voice of Asala - so romantic ?????

I've been meaning to go through everything on Railton road but never have the time... I heard some random Mid Eastern proto jungle with the loveliest of girl vocalists one time...

do you have any good Rai to recommend Sufi? which Khaled album should I get? which Mami album? what's new and exciting in Algeria?

Yesterday I listened to EPMD 'Business as Usual' and that Heatwave mix. Mostly I've been ripping my old hardcore/punk records to MP3 and re-experiencing them which has been fun.

i was walking around with flat batteries in my cd player all day but now I'm home listening to a nice mix cd I just picked up... "Credit is Due" by DJ DAY on a small japanese hip-hop / turntablist label called SUBCONTACT... some Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Lootpack, EPMD, BIZ MARKIE and lotsa funky soul and scratch numbers. Got an awesome mix of turntable tracks by DJ MR DONUT on the same label a few weeks back too.

Makes me remember how exciting dance music was in those days...
