I love Kiss Me Deadly.... was thinking about the other day for some reason.
Problem with film noirs is the names are so generic and often I can't remember which I've seen.
Is Scarlet Street the one with a painter or something? Slightly different from your normal noir maybe, not what I think of when I think of the genre. I do really Edward G Robinson though and agree with you about Fritz Lang. Is it The Big Heat with Lee Marvin that was famous (notorious) for that scene where he throws coffee in a woman's face? I think I have seen the Blue Gardenia though and wasn't that keen.
I'm the same, I watch them as I go to sleep so quite often they blur into one. I know I've seen The Big Heat for instance but can't remember anything about it. Scarlet Street has a brilliant femme fatale, Joan Bennett, because I watch on youtube it always pops up as the next film after I finish watching one and on rewatching it I find it quite funny. Pickup on South Street is another one that always pops up as the next film but I don't quite rate that even though I generally like Samuel Fuller. Dan Duryea's also in those Robinson noirs and he always lights up a film for me... Criss Cross, Too Late for Tears, Black Angel... they kind of merge into one for though except for the real standout ones. I mentioned The Chase in another thread, Peter Lorre, another favourite actor, and that film goes pretty surreal halfway through similar to Lost Highway.

Pickup On South Street is with Richard Widmark isn't it? He's another of the actors you always notice.
Peter Lorre is great yeah, not sure I know the one that changes like Lost Highway... is that The Chase? I should try and check that out.

Yeah The Chase. It's as though they started filming a different film halfway through but has a pretty surreal effect. Also has a great scene in a car with I think Peter Lorre controlling the pedals from the back seat.

Chinatown was tonight's one, a good film, not a great one, but I like listening to Jack Nicholsons voice and I like watching his face.

I remember another one where it maybe starts off with him walking alone on a logging track or something, maybe getting picked up in a lorry? Ring any bells?

Maybe five easy pieces? Same writer as the shooting, which also has Jack in a good role. Good film, got the right mood for the time now

A few people have recommended Burning to me lately, also The Wailing but that wasn't that good... started well but went too silly.
