i think i've gotten tinnitus. i keep hearing weird rhythmic peeps in my left ear when i lay in bed. they sound a bit like the cry of a seagull from far away. at first i thought i had a mouse in my room but it's only in my left ear. the weird thing is though, i haven't been exposed to any loud noises or music the past year.
I had something similar for a while. It lasted a long time but it did eventually go away by itself.

I think it might have something to do with how clear your sinuses are or other upper respiratory system trouble.
I cannot really smoke much because of that, otherwise my ears would get randomly blocked very often, pulsating noises when laying down down, sudden extreme sensitivity to sounds around 4-5KHz.
Worst thing possibly is amplified human speech.

ok everyone stand aside - the real fake doctor here. with aural phenomena his specialty.

how is the patient @yyaldrin? comfortable in his bed?

weird rhythmic peeps does not sound like tinnitus - that's a constant drone. it might be you need to get your ears cleaned out (not to be done regularly IMHO)...

first stop - get some proper chap with a stethoscope to have a look at it.

or like dr @craner said you might be hearing sounds. "i hear a new world calling me" and all that jazz. don't be alarmed. quite normal psychic threshold stuff to be considered normal in the sensory-deprived conditions of lockdown.

it's definitely not constant. it's intermittent, like every second. and it sounds very much like this:

i'm gonna wait a bit to see if it disappears like mr. tea suggested. i have also considered it might be psychic but what lousy super power is it hearing seagulls at night?

yes - good. i think not letting it distress you is very important. if it is psychic then you shouldn't upset yourself about it. don't cling as wot buddhists say!

I confess, I thought "I can hear weird rhythmic noises in my left ear" was leading up to "I was using Ableton and my right earphone must be on the blink."

i had it checked, wasn't tinnitus, doctor said something is blocking the space between my nose and my ear, there's some sort of tunnel that connects those parts. he said it might even had to do with wearing masks all the time.
