New from Herbert

Past experience tells me that there be a more than a few Herbert haters on this forum; but I thought the rest of you might be interested to hear some stuff off his forthcoming LP :)

He's stuck a couple of tunes up on Magic + Accident. Enjoy (in spite of the nasty wee Flash player).

Much more widescreen sound. After the clever-clever nicheness of Plat du Jour, he's obviously going for gold this time...

sadly it's no bodily functions, though.
some bits are pretty nice and one first listen i quite enjoyed it right the way through.
a few listens are pretty much enough, though, which is a real shame coz bodily functions really is an album i just can't tire of.

I take it you've heard the whole thing then..?

To be sure, Bodily Functions is the one to beat. But I rather get the impression he's going for a more mainstream success with this one (at least, as mainstream as he'll be allowed), so I'm not expecting comparisons between the two to stand up. We'll have to see.

First Doctor Rockitt LP will always be my favourite. Love the Radioboy stuff as well. Always been a bit  by the stuff he put out as Herbert... tended to go a bit too housey for my tastes.

The problem with Herbert records - terrible vocals. He should get some less boring, sing-y singers. They all just beige-out into the mix, sounding all super-smug and superior.

Best thing he's ever done is that 'let's all make mistakes' mix.

Plat du Jour was irritating like sandpaper undies but I like this one - though not as much as the Roisin Murphy album.

The vocalists suit the wejafuze (wonky euro jazz fuzak electronica) vibe.
