This is terrible and at least a year old right!???
Yes, it is more than a year old and is a remake of Tori Alamaze's original, which was fantastic. Philip Sherburne wrote a fairly scathing account of the manner in which the p-cat dolls acquired & reworked the song in the July 24, 2005 New York Times (the article is archived but pay-only to read, unfortunately).

i was wrong, i like deja vu but this really is the best mainstream R&B single out this year i reckon. its all about those synth lines - theyre really chilling. she cant really sing but shes not terrible - shes just singing in that conversational, barely projected style that singers do now so non-singers at home can sing along more easily. it doesnt matter here though cos the song and the melody are so good.

I still love this record tho... the least summery summer R'n'B smash ever.. lovely stuff, it sounds like she's been drugged or something before recording the vocal... almost sinister and childlike, exquisite and really, really wrong, in a very subtle, delicately measured way...

!agreed, phantastic track. very minimal. great arrangement (though some of the used string sounds could have been chosen differently). i wonder though if she sings the way she does because that's what comes to her naturally (aka, "she can't sing"), or wether it's highly stylised and drafted. Either way, i love this. vocal style will spawn copycats!

i love the way that the most powerful vocal inflection is in the fade out at the end...

^^ Very sorry undisputed, I've made a moderation error and deleted your post. I hadn't noticed you on here before and I'd only seen two posts from you, both of were pretty much just links to artists' websites, so I thought it was another spammer. Won't happen again.
