Just wanted to get everyone's views and opinions on this CD, if you have heard it yet.

It's out now in independant stores if you've not caught it yet.

Ordered it today --> it'll take a few days to find it's way to holland.
In the mean time.....slsk (seeing I've already payed for it i'm good yeah?).

The tunes I've heard are big --> Xtra vocal (suprised me!), died in ur arms, 2016 (you know what Rapid is BIG, but Dirty is the undercover producer....) and breath.

I've picked this up and on first listen i like it but i'm a little underwhelmed. There are some bangers on there for sure but not quite as high impact as the firtst volume.

This said i'll still need to spend some time with it before i make any final conclusions.

I read somewhere that Sebastian Bach is touring with GNR, and could quite possibly be included as a singer on some upcoming tracks.

those are some vocals to be excited about.

Liking it so far, there's even a couple of almost "heartbreak avenue" moments but F'in riddim is my favourite track so far..

Slightly OT - what's the verdict on the Slix mixtape?

Or should I split that off to a new topic?

Might go to uptown and get these two tomorrow.

Listened to it daily since Uptown got it in and still not sure. Probably a victim of it's own hype, but still some wicked stuff here - F'in Rhythm is def the stand out for me.
Personally I'd like to see a Ruff Sqwad equivalent of 2nd Phaze; a decent CD round up of all the big 12's

The only thing G&R 2 suffers from is the fact that the Ruff Sqwad package is so good, so far ahead of its competition, that it's hard to judge exactly what to compare this to, and where to put it. It reminds me of a pure pop album, say, Yazoo's 'Upstairs at Erics' or maybe Orchestral Manoeuvres in The Dark's 'Architecture and Morality', crossed with early Triple Six Maffia.

I like the way they've moved to a consummate Uk package - away from aping US mixtape styles of presentation to Rough style graphics by Hale.

The actual songs - in this I mean the backing tracks - are just ridiculous, and flawless with the exception of maybe a glitch around tracks 17 - 19. I find it hard to fault an album - and it is, anyone who thinks it's a 'mixtape' is fooling themselves - that contains Xtra, Died In Your Arms, Alright and Rebore, let alone the plethora of newer tracks I hadn;t heard.
Favourite track is 'Killing Em' so far.

Congratulate them for us Logan, The majors are fools. I'd be interested so hear what first week sales figures are for this if you can get em. Is the DVD coming out as well?

absolutely. call me a fanboy but i find it difficult to compare it to any other 'mixtapes' out there (it's NOT a mixtape, it IS an album, to paraphrase skepta) - as a crew they remain on a completely different level. the productions are streets ahead of anyone's apart from wiley's and maybe a few by j sweet, young.dot, dexplicit etc. the bars - especially fuda's, who's a huge star in the making i think - are just brilliant. the way the mcs swap and interchange bars makes for such a dense listen - they seem like songs rather than just mcs spitting 16s over whatever beat comes along next. two or three duff songs out of 22 is an amazing ratio.

watch out on dot-alt.com for an extensive interview with fuda guy coming soon, also a shorter profile in dazed&confused next month.

anyone nicking this not buying it is just beyond the pale imo. do you want these people to keep making music or do you want it to be so consistently financially unrewarding that they just give up?

'died in your arms' is tune of the year hands down for me - been rinsing the instrumental for about nine months since it got played on their rinse show: on that occasion i was just absolutely flummoxed by how good it was - the handclaps omg!

Thank you! Sometimes the UK just doesn't appreciate what it's got. Can we have some magazine covers for them now, please? HALLO? OBSERVER MUSIC MAGAZINE? HALLO? HALLO? UK CALLING OMM?

mate, do NOT get me started on OMM. if i could've written up ruff sqwad for anyone with a wider reach than dazed&confused i would've done in a shot (no offence to dazed).

broadsheet music/arts editors are middle-aged, middle-class white men and they do not CARE about grime unless there's a shank involved.

we appreciate at dot-alt anyway, trust.
