sorry DJL i tried with yousendit but its a max upload of 100mb, and megaupload crashes my internet explorer, which i do not rate at all! :eek:

any other free upload sites?

thats something i actually worry a little about, in that i bought a lot of tunes in quite a short period of time, my honeymoon period if you like, and i think some of them may have difficulty over time if you know what i mean. i fell in love with this very sharp, glitchy, fizzing, spacious sound and bought a lot! but i think some of those will be timeless nonetheless

and this mix is of a particularly purist vision, im currently planning one which is similarly up-to-the-minute but is much more varied, with tracks which i think are less reliant on a particular aesthetic if you know what i mean

Thanks for that and yeah I know what you mean.

The first half grabbed me by the balls and swung me round which was quite exhilarating but after the initial rush of endorphins it started to hurt a little. Good to hear what all the fuss is about though and nice mixing skills. It is still very much four on the floor which I suppose is what characterises techno house and therein lies my unsustainability of interest. I just have to have variety and diversity in the drum programming. It's not hard to see why the big headz are looking to include dubstep in their sets.

I think this mix is good for a minimal mix, but I'm still not sure if I'm crazy about the sub-genre itself (bar a couple of individual tracks). I think most of these songs would benefit from being juxtapositioned with something more "organic" -- opposites tend to bring out the best in each other in my experience (e.g. the rush you get from hearing a booming house kick enter the mix after half an hour of bottom-weak disco).

Can't think of any i use other than those that are any good. Any chance of splitting the file in two and sticking it up on Yousendit? Would really like to hear it.

I was wowed by the sounds and texture (oohhh, ahhhh) but found something lacking at the heart of it (the music, not the mix).

I suspect that it's phenomenal in an altered state; perfect timing and sublimely concise. Add a good soundsystem and serious amplification and it must chug along in a satisfactorily surprsing way. Only for two hours or so though.

Obssesive and selfless but in danger of becoming a shaggy dog story.

i think thats to do with the purism of the track selection... basically it was made specifically for a mate who is really into dancefloor, jacking house usually, so i drew much less for the depth and emotion and much more for the rhythmic propultion and sparkling aesthetic. because the above music is truly not soulful, its almost the opposite in most cases (barring the triola remix, matthew dear and the finale), its all about texture and tight rhythmic interplay. also, for me, there is something wonderful about an experience which is so anti-soul, whereby your experience is just left with essentially a grinding, continuous basic rhythm as various elements drift in and out. in a club this type of music is phenomenal

im in the midst of planning a new one which i think will be of much more interest to those of you with a desire for more melodic and emotional interest, so hold tight for that :) also please dont assume that this is all that 'minimal' has to offer, its just a very specific slice of it

poor connection at the moment means i haven't been able to check it yet, looks interesting though, i find it difficult to differentiate between the various sub genres of techno/house so i look forward to understanding further what consitutes minmal.

re: file hosting - www.fileden.com and www.filelodge.com both have 500meg of permenant storage and no limits.
