It feels that 2006 was the year I reconnected with house music - possibly the first time I've really paid attention since the about 94/95. This was wholly due to new clubbing experiences at nights/days like Retox, Zombies Ate My Brain, Wrong, Penetration, Jaded and others. I thought this minimal house and techno stuff was for serious bald-headed Hawtin-a-like blokes, but really it's loud, fun, and includes both ladies and copious amounts of pharmaceuticals. I've been strictly 'ardkore since 91, and am a real positive supporter of grime right now; that's what growing up in London does to ya - the nuum takes a real hold. But this alternate reality of underground house clubbing, with 'nights' out sometimes reaching from Friday night all the way into Monday morning, has been a real find.
Oh, and the music - that's good n'all.
There've been some great house mixes posted on dissenus: dreamspace11's Underground House mix, elgato's minimal mix, and oblio's Fuck New Rave mix were all absolutely stupendous. My last electrohouse mix was dumb and brash, and all the better for it I reckon. The mix I'm posting here is a little more refined and perhaps more varied, less straight ahead electro than before. There are some older tunes on here, as well as some real current tracks. The basic aim was to keep it all flowing, get it sounding pretty druggy, and also to inject a little bit of bass and groove into what can sometimes be pretty teutonic stuff - this is most evident a fair few tracks in. So I hope you like it, please leave a comment if it brings you some joy.
