Has anyone mentioned Claude von Stroke's Who's Afraid of Detroit? yet? Or better yet the Tanner Ross remix of said track... not sure how old it is but its crazy good.

I've heard people speak highly of Claude's tracks and haven't got into them all that much myself. This one might make me take a closer look.

While we are on the topic of "Space Warrior" (which is better of the two IMO)...does it sample something? That angelic voice sounds really familiar, like it came from some early 90's trance/techno record. Maybe it's just an often used patch.

Oh, another question. Jichael Mackson - The Grass Is Always Greener...
Wicked track! I am pretty sure it's composed entirely of samples of other records (and some tv painter guy) but I can't place them. Where's the main groove from? The way that Chris Isaak sample is used...wow. I love this whole Villalobos style approach to making records that sound like DJ sets. Very loose layering of samples, some effects. This record pulls it off so well though, makes it sound warm and all enveloping.

New Pig and Dan album Imagine - good, tr*ncey minimal house in the Cocoon style. See especially Globetrotter for some Orbital inspired action.

Supermayer album - good moments, overall dissapointment, too much noodling ambience.

Chloe album sampler - I like this, also the Matias Aguayo remix on the flip.

on a slightly different tip: all the recent deepchord echospace releases seem to be getting rave reviews. interesting stuff, and i know they are tired of all the basic channel/chain reaction comparisons but it certainly does tread that ground.

Saw Efdemin at Weekend in Berlin on saturday, played a very good set and one absolutely incredible tune a deep house kind of vibe but with some sort of percussional element going in and out of time, kind of like Villalobos but not quite. Whish I could remember the tune better, but I was too drunk (which Efdemin seemed to be as well, mixing was a bit of...)

i don't really hear what separates the echospace release from deepchord's past achievements, save for far better distribution and lower cost. it has a different atmosphere, sure (frosty rather than warm) but i definitely don't think it's any better than the material collected on vibrasound. perhaps i've just had enough.

Out of interest, are the old Deepchord things worth fat stacks of cash now? I wouldn't normally ask, but I might try to shift my copy of dcv-07 if it would help to keep body and soul together at the end of my (unfunded) writing up year...

yeah, pretty much anything deep chord affiliated is worth a lot of money (for a dance record anyway). That's probably a 30-50 quid record you got there.
