This is available from bleep now along with most of the Gosub backcatalogue. Enjoying it so far, especially 'when the rain comes down' and 'strange city'. My personal favourite Gosub record is data mining in anthilia, but this comes pretty close.

I will go an get it. I like his music a lot, although it has to be said he is really trying to be Heinrich Mueller. This is a good thing cos Heinrich Mueller is probably my favourite living producer and I always want to hear more similar music, but also it would be nice to hear something wildly diferent from Gosub.... like the excellent but very short hip hop track on one of his recent 12s.

yes you're right he's best when he's doing something diff, there is that pointone ep where he does a really slow reverbed up track in a kind of drexciya style and it's good.
There are loads of producers trying to do the mueller thing.

I disagree, I don't think Gosub is trying to be like Gerald at all - his sound is very different.

Gosub is the closest thing I heard to the Japanese Telecom/Drexciya stuff. Good thing he isn't emulating Arpanet. How can I like Japanese Telecom and hate Arpanet at the same time?

The thing with all this melodic electro is it sounds a lot like certain video game music. And it's like...well why are these guys getting so much credit and love when there's all this video game music that's just as good that nobody listens to? It feels weird to have it come on vinyl.

You know how people dig Ennio Moriconne scores? We will see the Contra soundtrack elevated to the same level.

See, I don't hear that at all, Gosub has more soul and funk in his music, the production and sound placement is completely different and it's obviously created by someone with professional skills (he programs for various stars).

the kind of chords, breakdowns, aprpeggiating sounds etc are very drexciyan i'd agree. he's best when he doesn't g down that route of messes with it.

Still don't hear it, there was more menace and isolation in James work I feel, it's strange for me to hear how people think/feel Drexciya own a sound...
