In response to the Dub Scale thread in music:

Part One: Smells

1. Bleach
2. Toothpaste
3. ?
4 Lemons
5. ?
6. ?
7. Mulled Wine
8.?
9.Linseed oil
10.

Could this thread possibly go anywhere?

10's got to pretty obvious no?

Are you correlating these with the entries in the music scale i.e. Wagner smells like lemons?

No correlation between the two. But the idea raises the possibility of creating experiences that are more or less dub.

So: listening to Wagner whilst sniffing a lemon is not entirely un-dub. Inhaling linseed oil to an Upsetter soundtrack is a very dubby experience. Standing in cloud of ganja smoke listening to King Tubby is (obviously) the apex of dubishness.

But get this: what if we added touch to our dub synesthics experiment?

Listening to Stepz whislt eating toothpaste and scrunching tin foil: anti-dub

Inhaling linseed oil to an Upsetter soundtrack whislt rolling a warm cork (yes, cork) in your palms: pretty damn dub.

Jumping on a bouncy-castle inside the Grand Canion surrounded by the aroma of smoked mackerel.

That thought has just made me hungry.

Darn. Thanks for the warning, I'd better cancel my flight and the inflatable hire. Mackerel still on though.
