time to remove my 'proper journalist' hat and play the 'things i overheard in uptown' game

cameo (on the phone): "yeah, well since heartbroken they're all really eager. ny and a lot of the other girls want me to sort it for them. (beat) yeah yeah i know, i don't think they're necessarily expecting to reach number two. it's stressing me out quite a bit, like they want me to arrange everything really quickly."

cameo, niche hit-fixer?

People download in dubstep too but records sell because they've got the hype right..

This is true in that dubstep's rise was a much more "managed" thing, with an infrastructure etc, savvy use of the internet as a promotional tool and so forth. but who knows if that is to the long term benefit of the music? it's not necessarily looking that way at the moment.

For The Last Time
Bassline House Is Not Niche ..

poor zomby, you seem to banging yr head against a wall w/ this one ;)

while it might be worth making a distinction between the "urban" and "ravey" sides of this sound as local scenes spread they get taken out of the hands of their originators, and "Niche" outside of Sheffield might be too abstract a term for the public to get their heads round. There's no immediate connection between the term and the actual SOUND. Djs on London radio etc. use the two terms pretty much interchangeably...

RWD: Firstly - bassline or niche? Which should it be? Both? Either?

SB: "It’s both, definitely."

Just been listening to Danny Bond's latest mix (Vol36). Download here: http://www.mediafire.com/?fko40xpmyz2

Bassline has been accused of sounding like Happy Hardcore and if any of it has any similarity then you may hear it in the above mix. Personally this is my favourite Bassline mix I've heard so far.

i wouldnt really say that has any similarity to happy hardcore, in a way reminds me more of the tapes by tony de vit and the like my mates sis used to play about 94 when everyone else round our way was on the binman/xray/tizer paddy hardcore continuum, far too 'gay' for derry boys
