I'm reading rumours of Sterling going to Barcelona, either loan or a loan that becomes permanent... at first I wondered why he'd go for it - obviously Barca will grab the chance of any forward willing to play for them who can kick the ball - but wheb you think about it, he is out of favour and hardly starting for City just now. I can imagine that from on the bench the chance to instantly become first choice for Barca looks attractive... and in his head he's gonna start banging in goals, turn round their season and make BSJ as feared as MSN ever were.

Edit: just realised some people might not know what that stands for, for those of you who don't and who happen to be reading this, I should point out that it is Messi, Suarez, Neymar.

Saudi Arabia gonna buy Newcastle then... what does that mean for the game? Do they have more money than Mike Ashley?

Yeah, not a great look. There's a lot to dislike about Mike Ashley, but to my knowledge he's never had a journalist dismembered with a chainsaw...

He epitomised the rotten, ego-driven vanity project as football club that represented the PL sell out. Glugging on pints, playing to the gallery, fat as fuck, even had the nerve to wear the tie. “Look at me and my cash”. Cunt. Someone I’d cheer hearing that he’d had a few slaps out and about, or worse

With Chelsea and City you knew where you were. Arsenal too. Football leagues have seen similar chairmen and mangers, wannabe personalities bigger than life. Can you imagine being a Geordie with this shit, beyond pathetic

Glazers grifted the PL better than most. Huge loans, massive interest rates, surprised Fergie didn’t walk

Released a few million shares this week, Ronaldo’s return etc, shameless

Of course it's obvious that they have limitless wealth, just a question of how much of it will be put at their disposal... I remember the innocent days of the 90s when Jack Walker giving Blackburn a few million to buy Shearer seemed obscene and unfair but things have changed a little since then.

So we are expected to simply put up with an autocratic royal family with obscene wealth and power that is passed down by archaic laws of inheritance and who can commit crimes seemingly with impunity, totally ignoring half-hearted US attempts to investigate a shocking and terrible act directly involving their prince that was blatantly committed in plain view of the world.
I wonder if they are ever tempted to try and clean up their image by buying a football club in the same way as The House of Saud? Airmiles Andy is probably in Pizza Express right now coolly drawing up plans to buy Burnley and unveil a new striking partnership of Mbappe and Benzema. He could personally take charge of their ladies under sixteen team, his particular skillset of arranging the movement of young girls will be invaluable in the cutthroat world of the transfer market.

There will be some faux outrage and then life will continue. Man City have hardly been tainted with the way the word owners got their money. No one is interested in Roman’s source of wealth at Chelski- over and again we see football take the king’s shilling. Too soon we’ll have a World Cup in which thousands have died building the stadiums - like pharaoh’s slaves- and nothing will happen because football. I know it’s not a new or original argument but in the end fans will pay to watch no matter who is funding it.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Redknapp said: “You think the Arsenal fans wouldn’t love him [Pochettino] there?"

“You go in and start winning football matches, they could take Saddam Hussein in there, they don’t give a monkeys do they."

“If you start winning every week they’ll be singing ‘there’s only one Saddam’.”

I can see Poch at Newcastle - a proper project building a team in his image but with unlimited funds.
