“Football is the most beautiful sport in the world. If a person messes up, football doesn’t have to pay. I messed up, and I paid. But the ball... The ball does not stain."

I love a goal like this one (as long as it's not my team obviously)

Barca's worst start to the league since 1971. Still they're doing ok in the Champions League I guess, maybe they'll win that.

Ederson: "It’s good, when you’re stressed, to take the stress out. Playing a little is good for the mind. I once played with Yaya Toure in the locker room, I gave him a rear naked choke. We ended up catching each other, I put a rear naked choke on him. He was like ‘Ed, stop, stop’. He was too old."

Dubious tackle from a PSG player and the fourth official says in Romanian, referring to the player, 'That black ('negru') one there, something like that is not acceptable' - Romanians are more comfortable denoting people by skin colour so there is a cultural mismatch. 'Negru' literally means 'black' and is not equivalent to the n-word.

Great player... I used to love him. That first one he makes it look so easy, just walks round the defender and delicately puts it where the keeper has less than no chance. Some of those goals though I'd ask questions of the keeper... and that Galatassary kit... I dunno.

There was an incident with Cavani talking to one of his mates from Uruguay on Insta and using a term like that too.

I can see why someone might take issue, but I'm also uncomfortable with Western countries and the Anglosphere coming down on people like a ton of bricks when their language and culture doesn't match our own - starts to defeat the purpose of combating racism when you get to that point.

Apparently the member of the coaching staff the official's accused of being racist toward was calling the officials "gypsies" from more or less the first minute and that's what led to the situation. The fourth official eventually had enough, called the ref over to give him a red and when pointing out who he was talking about said "the black one".

If that's true then it completely flips the story.

It's the kind of situation which perfectly illustrates why it's unwise and completely unnecessary to publicly weigh in on a developing story like this. We don't have all the facts yet and it looks as though there's more to it than initially suggested. If it turns out the fourth official was being racially abused then a bunch of the people firing out tweets and status updates are gonna have to walk them back, double down or pretend they never existed.

I was sad to hear about that. Nothing really to say, but just... RIP I guess.
Anyway, this was a decent knock... got hold of it pretty well I'd say

Maybe that's for the best though. I remember after I heard and I went to check out the Guardian report and what people were saying and one of the first comments was something like "I can't believe that substitution he made against Tottenham that time, definitely cost us three points.
