i bought the mute boxset so mostly early depeche mode and yazoo at the moment, along with the more obscuro stuff on there. can anyone explain fad gadget? he might need some more listening whereas 'ice machine' and 'see you' are so much more immediate. didn't know vince clarke was in yazoo + depeche mode. i loved erasure when i was 6 or 7.

i've had the cbs top 100 2005 on my headphones but i might finally listen to the new animal collective album that ive been avoiding.

...essential listening for lovers of 'New Plastic Sounds and Electronic Abstractions'...

Compiling a B-movie sci-fi noir-type soundtrack for a friend I dug this out again and rediscovered the joys of Scott's electro sounds, along with the American ads for IBM, Bendix Aviation etc. This beautifully packaged 2-disc selection really is highly recommended.

I think I need to get the Silicon Teens stuff. Keep seeing an over priced scratched up copy of the album in one of those annoying 'boutique' charity shops.

Picked this up (or the vinyl anyway) on your recommendation because I thought it sounded interesting. I mainly like it but I find the vocals a bit annoying. Still, a lot of the songs are all but instrumental so that's not such a problem.

It's definitely a bit bizarre and on the edge. I hate the term 'outsider', but I think you can't deny this guy 'means it', there's little sense of self censorship. Glad you liked it, mostly - where'd you get the vinyl?

I think it's beautiful actually - a 'real' visionary psychedelic record and from a point in time when that was a totally unfashionable thing.

First two Heldon records are lovely - layers of VCS3s and Frippesque guitars - there's a track on the second one called 'In The Court Of King Fripp' that features the lushest autumnal melotron. Gilles Delueze does a vocal turn on the first album. Heldon 6 - Interface is their heaviest I think - block rocking motorik beats and massive moog sequences.

The most cosmicest outer space thing ever that I've been loving recently is the Far East Family Band's 'Parallel World' album with Klaus Schultze on the buttons.

Haven't heard Iceland but keep nearly putting in a big order at Cuneiform for loads of that stuff.

If you like Klaus you have GOT to hear that record. It's really quite wonderful.

It does actually sound like the sleeve. Very electronic (three synth players) and psychedelic. No kidding.

Heard a Conrad Schnitzler 'Cassette Concert' recently - it's a live thing he does where he sends his mate out to DJ with hundreds of partial tracks on CDs. It was fucking fantastic. What a trip!

There's some mental stuff on youtube...
