New Snoop Dogg: Sensual Seduction

These sounds are creeping into Hip Hop because these are the sounds that come as presets on the popular keyboards / workstations that most US Hip Hop producers currently use.

US producers, playing sounds programmed by synth makers, who listen to house and techno.

Well there are straight up samples from house records on some these tunes not just presets. I considered the use of presets as well but i think some of these cats are sitting around and listening to old house records as well to get ideas and samples. It is possible.

Yes, of course... but I think "sitting around and listening to old house records" is pushing it a bit. Although there is that Youtube footage of Diddy scoring pills in DC10, I guess.

It's mostly the big crossover stuff that gets directly referenced (as I pointed out elsewhere with "Age Of Love" -> "My Love")... more likely that they're hearing stuff on TV shows or the radio.

lol -true they prob aren't sitting around listening to old house records- I am projecting my habits on to them.

I will never underestimate the power of Japanese electronics and US TV advertising :D

Hey if we're talking about ravey hip hop can we talk about 50 cent/J.T. "ayo technology"?
Fuuuuk those damn constant twirling synthesizers! Can not get enuff. Also, best song about internet porn ever? I mean this song is GREAT on ALL LEVELS (sorry folks, just in the midst of a slight obsession here, listened to this song about 8 times in a row already this morning...) The chorus is "ayo i'm tired of using technology"!!! more songs about desire in the internet age with ridiculous use of synthesizers plskthxbye

Best thing by a mile on a hopeless album and nice to see fiddy write a rap with an air of humility.

I wish other people would vocal that beat, just can't listen to 50 anymore. But yeah, it's sick, too sick. Instrumental works well when I fuck about with it as well.

this song does rock... timbaland totally copping dubstep ARP arpeggio sounds... (and i am not ones of those people who thinks timbaland stole everything from the UK, but...)

I just dont know
apologies, but...

this seems like a relatively appropriate time to ask whether anyone can ID a track for me...

a remix / bootleg of Drop It Like Its Hot, 120bpmish i reckon, main changes are (other than speed) that the vocal is chopped and there are overlaid hihats / slapping snares, but then it gets a bit mashup with the synth stabs before dropping into a ridiculous arpeggiating bassline with the vocal going "snooooooooop... snooooooooop" etc...

help would be hugely appreciated :)

its a commodore 64 arp sound. given he already was "influenced" by the demo scene i'll be amazed if it had anything to do with dubstep.

the idea of the new gymrat timbaland listening to the music from Attack of the Mutant Camels and saying "yeah, i'll flip that" never fails to amuse me.

that fiddy/justin tune is unbelievable, its on the radio about 5 times a day on crappy galaxy radio in the office and i feel like ive double dropped. Timbaland got caught stealing a chip tune last year for that nelly furtado beat so i wouldnt be surprised if he'd lifted that wholesale from another swedish nerd releasing on creative commons. apparently he's now bought a SID-station (a sick piece of kit that uses the internal sound chip of a C64 in an analog midi synth) not sure if this link is still live, i can imagine tims lawyers werent too happy. theres a vid on youtube of him making excuses (i think he downloaded the midi files instead of audio and nicked them instead) as well but havent the link.

I keep hearing the microkorgs presets all over hip hop records, its got loads of cringey 'trance' and 'electronica' settings. its pretty much the cheapest analog style synth with a vocoder on the market and has been on stage with pretty much every act ive seen for a year. christ ive seen some crap this year. like, clarky cat/trash fashion levels of crap
