Id be interested to see what comes out of this, for me allthough I love/enjoy and have loved alot of different electronic music I don't think I could compile a top 5 all time just because my taste or the enjoyment of any one tune or sub sub genre I might really like tends to go or diminish much faster than with non electronic music which will in some cases will probably never completely go (allthough it would still be very difficult to do a top 5). It also depends where you're drawing the line at what isn't 'electronic' I suppose.

sorry, my definition of 'pieces' here is not especially compatible with your compile and showcase format, but as a list for the sake of a list...

villalobos - achso
steevio - rogue patterns
pheek - 'really long track series' (mandragore, perc neige & de begg begg)
kompakt - total 2 & 3
the mfa - the difference it makes (superpitcher remix)

so, to represent the history of electronic music on earth since 1911 or whenever, you choose 5 minimal techno tracks from Germany, all made after 1990?

True, it's such a nonsensical category.

Can you give me an example of non-electronic music? Or do we just have to interpret it as your username indicates, as non-classical music?

as opposed to just naming a load of composers (not even specific pieces) that chewed up huge grants in institutions in the 60s that feature in the wire every couple of months? Most early electronic music is much more fun to read about than actually listen to.

original poster please change phrasing of poll to: "electronic music straight considers 'fun to listen to'".
