mistersloane

heavy heavy monster sound

apologies for the video, this was the only full length version i could find

Love that song. That version is just killer.

Nice one for the Haitian Folk Songs, bang on the money for me at the moment, stops me from just having Chronik's Man in the Boot on constant loop. For about 3 weeks now, might finally break the spell, thanks :)

G.Isaacs-Quiet Storm

This piece of awesomeness has just got a repress.

From Reggae Music Store's mailout this week:

"This week the spotlight falls on producer Mikey Bennett's Two Friends label. Mikey worked with producer Gussie Clarke in the late 80's and early 90's, writing and producing many of Gussie's tunes on Anchor and Music Works label. He later formed his own Two Friends label which issued a string of killer digital tunes in the same period, some of which are now available once again. Highlights include the Dennis Brown classic "No More Walls" along with DJ cut from Shabba Ranks and a next version from Leroy Gibbons, all on 7", along with Quiet Storm from Gregory Isaacs on 12 inch. These tunes were made more than 20 years ago and the production quality still can't be matched by any reggae being made today!"

i can't get enough of "el maana" (le sens du mot) by nass el ghiwane.

i've heard stuff but them before and really liked it but in a sort of " i must get around to paying proper attention to that sort of thing someday "

this tune though blew may away as soon as i heard it and i've been listening to it ever since, although be warned that it takes a few minutes to get going.

not sure what the story is with putting up links to downloads but if you search for "nass el ghiwane el maana 1983" you should be able to get it from the same spot as me.

I remember DJ /Rupture used to give this band a lot of exposure, among others on his WFMU show. Gon check it out too, I think I'll like this.

LOL, I just checked the Nass El Ghiwane track you mentioned (Al Manaa) and couldn't figure out from where I heard it before. Then it struck me I used this track in some mix I made in about 2008. If you're interested in it, it starts around 7:08, just after a White Mice track and before Clouds - Shallow. It's kinda lo-fi, listening back to it right now. http://soundcloud.com/dj-the-millennium-falcon/fitna-mix
