this tom moulton mix from the mid 70s from the sandpiper club (i think). has any genre ever been as generous, emotional, sexy, and just plain KIND as disco while still making you want to dance? loves theme by love unlimited orchestra is such an incredible record, for reasons that most people who consider themselves too clever (or just hate groove) will never realise.

I think one of the best musical experiences of this year was the 21:17 from Wolfsburg to Berlin. Never mind Trans-Europe Express, Vorsprung Durch Techno, or any of the clichés, wasn't Little Richard either; subtly rhythmic, thoroughly harmonic and with a two-note melody whose fascination and drama lay in unpredictable durations. I went three stops so there was even the hint of sonata form
