The Photos of Nick Kilroy.

I'd like to see a memorial photo book of Nicks photos. But then the best place to witness them is online. Nicks photos are irridiscent, they seem to radiate light as though their very fabric was a porous membrane. On a monitor they do indeed radiate light.

Choose a photo and post it to this thread.

NB Technical Note. Only one image will be visible per post using the dissensus attachment system.

This was taken the day we bloggers first assembled en-masse on one of Luka's canalside walks.

There are some great photos on Nick's site.

This is a photo of the Panthoen in Rome, which is an amazing building. It's a strong, imposing presence, but it's got a beautifully constructed ceiling. The amazing thing I found was thinking that it had been standing proud for over a thousand years, and probably will still be there many hundreds of years after we're all gone.

Luke's right, it was a great day. And Nick seemed so full of ideas, a vibrant switching system for concepts, people, sounds....

Last time I saw him, at the Dissensus meet in Whitechapel (what, a month ago? less?), much of that vibrancy had dissipated, but not - I thought, I hoped - fatally, not finally.

And that cross photo is quite astonishingly yeh irridescent....

And while I enjoy Nick's photo's online, it would have to be better to experience them in a book... Can't we get it together? With text? I'd love to write something to accompany the pics, I'm sure Luke and Oliver (for two) wd love to as well...

i think a book is a terrific idea. i'm not entirely sure about publishers who deal extensively with photographs, as these kind of publications are incredibly expensive, but surely an exhibit of some kind would be possible? there has to be a space somewhere that could be used. having looked over zabriskie point a lot (here, phil sherburnes' and sasha f-j's blogs are places i have often visited while at work and wanting something good to look at), i really do think the pictures within deserve a much wider audience.

in fact i can think of about 3 places where it could be done already and there's no reason at all why they couldn't be shown *on* monitors.

Don't think a publisher is the way to go -- not worth getting dragged into years of tedious wrangling with those claret swillers --- could surely put up the money for a limited ed run ourselves?

I'd gladly put in money and whatever I could to make this happen. I think he'd like that we were working on a project together.

print costs would make it *extraordinarily* expensive, mark. there's a reason why those coffee table books cost up wards of £100 sometimes. the smaller the run, the more expensive the item and photo reproduction is especially tricky. to make things look good - especially pictures like nicks which are full-colour and have a real luminescence about them - you'd need to use seriously good paper and a really top-end process. i'd love to see it happen but i think it'll cost an absolute fortune to do them justice. that not to say, of course, that i'm against it if you find a way to do it. it's a really nice idea.

You have to think more punk Dave. ;) The last thing we'd want is another coffee table book surely... The book would go alongside the website, which as you say is in a sense the purest and best space for the photos to appear in.

lovely idea, there are printers and binders that will do it, forget going to a publishers.
there is a good indie printer in wiltshire which does a really good job,

That's great news Marcus... Where there's a will there's a way... let's make this happen, it really can...

have you got access to the originals? cause these will have been optimised for the web and hence not look so great when printed

which may make the idea of exhibiting on monitors a necessity
