hmm, only the BBC following up on this story s far - no surprise there.

the Mail are guilty as sin where this shit's concerned, so they won't, if they can help it

will that great defender of public standards, the Telegraph, take an interest in flagrant criminality at the heart of public life? having recently paid £300,000 for stolen property...

so the Telegraph and the Indie have weighed in, the Times is embarrassed to know the NOTW and is hoping it will all go away. Meanwhile The Sun are keeping shctum, though they have found an Andy Coulson ringer disgracing himself.

And the Kelvin McKenzie column (not online, but flagged on the front page) seems like a rum bit of timing.

Thanks for flagging this up. Is anyone really surprised though that this is how they get their information?

Hopefully it will lead to less media bullshit about celebs, private lives of lpublic figures etc, and force people to concentrate less on schadenfreude and more on real issues.

But I doubt it.

Well, I wasn't surprised cos I read Flat Earth News a few months ago. But I was surprised when I read that, not that it happened, just by the sheer scale of it and the police and CPS cowardice in the face of it.

Little storm brewing online, for those interested in Flat Earth News...

Nick Cohen has accused Davies of lying in his book, though he's not saying where. And now Davies, reasonably, wants to know what he's on about.

Have a feeling Cohen will come a cropper on this.

edit: You accuse an investigative journalist of lying, but won't say what those lies are, even three days on from being challenged on your own blog. This is pretty fucking shoddy by any standards, even those of the Tory middlemarket papers where Cohen's probably angling for a job.

Interesting story - impressed at how quickly it's gone from Prescott's tweets to formal apology. Website still leads with "big beasts" tearing into Mili though - are there any other named beasts quoted?
