hardcore classics

Great track. The volume seems to be all over the place, or is that the delay in the track in effect?

Re: satin storm. Have been checking their ukg stuff. Oddly good. Not striaght up garage though, I'm thinking it's that 'deep house' side of them creeping in... just a guess...

inspired by Pete from B2TOS tossing up M.A.N.I.C. - I'm Coming Hardcore (a true classic) over there a couple of days ago: a whole bunch of tunes that don't exactly put the "hard" in hardcore. then again, you don't -always- want it ruff + dark, sometimes all you need is a nice piano line tossed over a simple, crisp breakbeat as they were wont to do back in 1991. tbh some of this is almost - or more than almost - veering into breakbeat piano house territory, but hey. the epitome of this kinda thing is probably Desired State - Dance the Dream but that's been put about 100 times by me & other people so I won't do it again.

going out to the man like tentative andy for keeping the torch of hc classics burning...

G-Force - Overdrive (bonus fact: the guy who made this later went to to make Cappashot, one of the all-time classic ragga/jungle soul tracks)

TBA - I Want U2 Stay

Global Effect - Undercover

DJ Rap - Divine Rhythm (her first tune)

best for last, a tune I could listen to about 1000x in a row. maybe the final word in sun-coming-up-drugs-coming-down business. and maybe an overwrought metaphor (dissensus specialty!) for the transient, fleeting nature of -nuum- permutations. or just a nice tune. bask in its gentle melancholy.

Came across this too, not a bad little list to pick at with youtube for the ones that aren't familiar.

Cheers for this one rivet, I can see myself getting a fair ammount of use out of it.
Whenever I've heard old hardcore sets and managed to find tracklistings for them I've noticed that they almost always contain some tunes from those white label EPs with no artist name, no individual track titles etc. I guess it was stuff that was made with set-building entirely in mind and prob only really sold/advertised to DJs in specialist places.

Pretty sure the noise-weirdness on Ghetto People is just on the youtube clip. Could be wrong though, I don't own the record. (yet ;) )
Also never knew that Satin Storm did garage, will have to investigate at some point.

been checking this cool thread and feel that Soundcorp deserve a bit of recognition for their 91/92 output.
Although Dreamfinder is their best known tune ,the single sided 12' of Regentime pt 2 sticks in the memory as being particularly deep dark and deadly but I cant find a link. Will try and post some audio later...

after a bit of searching I found this link that may be of interest to Soundcorp/tone def recds fans...
It seems to be a site by label founder Yomi Ayeni. There are detailed notes on most tone def releases and some audio links.

will defo link some audio later of Regentime Pt2 , the half step intro section is pure 2004 yunx style doomstep to my ears

Also been loving this one lately,
Ragga Twins - Bring Up The Mic:
Know the Ragga Twins/SUAD backcatalogue might all be heavily familiar to some here, but it's not to me.
This tune has a very ominous atmosphere to it right through I reckon.

Actually dominic posted loads of (great) Belgian/Euro stuff a few pages into the thread, including some of the tunes you posted.
Thanks for the trolling though, it's appreciated.

Apologies I didn't see that - i did see alot of jungle stuff hence my comment, and the belgian stuff really ruled the roost for ages + its a long thread and it's not fair to say i'm trolling- but fuck you anyway.

edit: all dominics early links are dead too...

Hehe, from apologies to fuck you in one post, good times. :)
Agreed there is a lot of stuff in here that's headed towards jungle, but it was a gradual transition wasn't it? Personally when I've posted tunes that I'm not sure belong here or in the jungle thread I've at least tried to indicate that at the time. By all means post more Belgian stuff though obv.

well I don't totally agree as dance listening trends aren't really a linear thing, ravers in scotland would listen to pretty different things to london etc - hence the outcome at the end of rave being lots of happy hardcore up there, and gabber in cornwall for example, rather than jungle, which went off in parts of london while other people went to hard trance etc..naamean
