    Rivers songs playlist

always loved this. there is something of the river about the sound. flows and eddies, currents. but it sounds like electricity flowing more than anything else. specifically it sounds like orange electricity flowing. have a strong colour association with this one.

    A Brooklyn Culture Mafia

pretty consistently bump into red scare anna these days, we live in the same part of town. she was in the park just now getting hassled by jehovas witnesses. alternatively, i pretty consistently bump into someone who looks like red scare anna. a pretty intriguing cultural figure in my book...

we've got to face up to the fact that what human beings do with cameras en masse is disgusting

    A Brooklyn Culture Mafia

one thing i've been thinking about the brooklyn culture mafia recently is, well, isn't one of the main things going on in this assemblage that internet content providers have found a way to put spoiled rich and sexy american girls in front of us so that we can be annoyed by them, slag them off...

When Do We Stop Finding New Music?

you need little pushes here and there. dissensus is a good one. although the parameters of acceptability are pretty narrow that is a lot better than the boring mulch anything goes approach of almost all the internet. i spent a covid christmas in the bath in 2020 self-isolated and listening to...

When Do We Stop Finding New Music?

there's an associated phenomenon which is when your ears and beliefs change so much that music that you used to love sounds boring or repulsive. half of what's going on when people talk about music with one another is a totally disavowed but very much present sense of: the fact that you like...

When Do We Stop Finding New Music?

can only speak for myself, but the stuff i listen to, and to some extent the way i listen to it, is totally different now to what it was two years ago. the key difference has been being able to go out to clubs fairly regularly. its restructured how i hear things. probably loads of people on here...

    London Districts

yeah maybe. but it doesn't register in the same way as in London. Jamaicans etc aren't anywhere near as prominent in the US dna as they are in the UK. puerto ricans yes. Haitians sort-of but not really

Gentrification hasn't particularly happened in places which are mostly people from the carribean. suspended is giving it a go though

    London Districts

not true in Brooklyn. the afro-carribean areas are pretty far from Manhattan though. crown heights, flatbush and canarsie. maybe in the bronx too, I've never got a handle on anything up there

    London Districts

i never know what to say to people who come to visit the UK to have a look around. like ok london there's probably plenty of meat on that bone. but then aside from that it's not obvious. everyone goes to edinburgh, oxford, bath, that shakespeare place whatever its called. but the tourist bits of...

sheffield maybe coz it's both pleasant and interesting (at least i find it interesting). if pleasant isn't a requirement, the train from london to bath stops in reading, didcot and swindon. for a solid tour of grim britannia you could stop off at all of them.

    London Districts

basically nothing. i do think it's good to pop into cities etc which are outside of tourist lands
