amazing post. i remember reading that key signature specificity had been debunked. some guy made a piano that could appear to play in a key other than the piece performed assembled musicologists all claimed to spot the clef much to their presumable chagrin.

I've got Penman's Satie book. It's always a pleasure to read about the Beautiful Epoch. However, pointing out that Satie is one letter from satire adds nothing of any relevance. I've just got to the bit where he tells the reader that "furniture" includes "urn" and "future". Yes you're right...
