    David Byrne vs. Paul Simon

Who is better as songwriter/musician? Ok, they got different starting points, but later on their careers are comparable. Byrne is not bad, but at the end of the day he is quite a poser. Simon wrote classic, timeless and elaborated songs. I clearly vote for Simon! What do you think? :)

I like the bad later albums

when it comes to tim buckley i'd rather prefer the late overproduced la-albums. never really liked his so-called masterpieces lorca or starsailor (song to the siren is the only exception), not to mention his early folksinger career (i never asked to be your mountain is the only exception in this...

    Klaus Dinger's Drumkit?

good point. 70s might be the heyday of perfect drum miking + mixing. "they spent 2 days to find the right mic-position for a snare drum." i think dinger saw himself first as guitarist, later as composer and guru, and didn't give a shite on drum gear. not the kind of guy who talks about zildjian...

    The Neue Deutsche Welle Thread

the wirtschaftswunder. brilliant live band with hauruck-drums and distorted casio. fronted by angelo galizia, an italian eccentrico in tradition of camp-mussolini gabi delgado, co-founder of daf. that good old fascist groove thang. more lascivious hooks embedded in casio-tone weirdness
