DILBERT VS MVUENT : Sickest most insane sonics battle royale

Its got to be a fair fight, new mix for new mix. Our previous mixes are not to be weighed in judging the match. Although @mvuent if you’ve made mixes previously I’d love to hear them. Out of genuine curiosity, but also for purposes of fiercely competitive reconnaissance, so I know what (not) to draw

Yeah man, listen soundboy man, if you play this man we play that, and if we play that, man then never play this!

never seriously attempted mixing. my next goal is to finish a jungle lp that's been repeatedly scrapped out of disgust at my own music-making ineptitude. if i can't finally make something good i'll commit harakiri. but i have a feeling checking out dilbert's mixes will be major inspiration... and if i DO finish it he'd better watch out

@mvuent maybe what Line was trying to say, if he wasn’t taking your recently restored presence for granted, is that slamming tracks together on VirtualDJ can be quite thrilling, its quick and easy satisfaction compared to the world of production. But I find to get the most out of it, especially for recording a mix, some planning and forethought is helpful. Sorry if thats still sounds condescending lol cos duh, but with your profound love of insane sonics I think you’d get a ton out of the joys of mixing and blending, a lot less work and lower stakes than actually *making* something

You can put a mix together like a track in a DAW too. That method affords all sorts of options for manipulating audio. Just drag the tunes in, chop them about, arrange them and fade them into each other, then run them through various mixer channels and FX chains.

Ya there’s a million ways to do it that are so easy a trained ape could but I would even accept if dilbert and MVUENT just went YouTube link for YouTube link here in this thread

Hypothetically speaking, if I were to get a DAW for my laptop (PC, Windows 11, got admin rights) which could do what you've said, what is the simplest easiest one to get, for free?

I would still encourage people to at least first audition blends live in a DJ program (VDJ is free) to experiment and get an idea of what tunes go together, but yeah its more time consuming to actually make it that way since you obviously have to record for the length of the mix and start over if you screw up too badly

I think @thirdform reccd VDJ to me years ago but that was when I had no admin rights
