1994 was 30 years ago

a year i remember (rose tintedly) as sunny
This is true, '94 was a glorious, long summer (I defied my Irish genetics and had a great tan)...while I remember '93 being rainy, grim and socially tense. There was a girl fashion trend in late autumn '94 for tartan mini skirts, thigh-high black socks and boots - no idea why I remember that. Original Nuttah, Sweet Vibrations and Sound Of Da Beast all remind me of leaving home, discovering Nigerian Guinness and chasing ice cream vans.

Straight up, shit is real
And any day could be your last in the jungle
Get murdered on a humble, guns'll blast, ns tumble
The corners is the hot spot, full of mad criminals
Who don't care, guzzling beers
We all stare at the out-of-towners
(Aiyyo, yo, who that?) They better break North
Before we get the four pounders and take their face off
The streets is filled with undercovers, homicide chasing brothers
The D's on the roof tryin' to watch us and knock us
And killer coppers even come through in helicopters
I drink a little vodka, spark a L and hold a Glock for
The fronters, wannabe ill ns and spot runners
Thinking it can't happen 'til I trap 'em and clap 'em
And leave 'em done, won't even run about gods
I don't believe in none of that shit, your facts are backwards
Nas is a rebel of the street corner
Pulling a TEC out the dresser; police got me under pressure

i'd make an exception for this one from Ian Pooley - yes for the blooping hour but not pedestrian.

Last Cabaret Voltaire lp for the period - The Message - isn’t my favourite but in a good mood complimented by decent period of weather (tafuckinra winter)? If I have to. It’s not proggy as the harmonic riff you hear at the intro is stitched in and out of an 8 mins+ plateau number. It shows what can be done within the idiomatic engine of house, its vertical tensions, masters of structure, repetition, repetition, repetition. A mate argued it works on a Sunday afternoon ironing, wtf has happened to us

Fuck it post both sides didn’t see it listed in its entirety

Circle squared, all sinister motifs removed but it still punches for the broad array of sample-bases drawn from of seemingly random (except clearly not) audio inserts. Big licks of Kirk’s solo material from the same time, drugs might’ve helped seed it too
