    Glastonbury 2010...

you may well laugh, but I can't wait to celebrate the fact that I'm off the SSRIs by necking a handful of pills for the LCD Soundsytem / Orbital finale on the Sunday...

    Luke Haines

Haines is great and I thought Bad Vibes was a fantastic read. Never did quite work out who the unnamed rock band were on the Iceland trip. Any suggestions?

    Glastonbury 2010...

to be fair, most of the old traveller crew do get in, but by throwing their lot in with Lost Vagueness, the Mutoids etc. You still see a lot of the old crowd, they've just had to be more inventive

Books Behind Bars Benefit, Brixton April 23rd

there's a very worthwhile benefit gig next Friday (Apr 23rd) down at the Grosvenor on the Brixton / Stockwell borders. It's to raise money to place books in African prisons. It's only 4 quid in, there are some great bands and acts on, and it's going to run "very late", apparently. I'll be...

admitting you were wrong: music you used to like and now hate

AmRep was an awesome label. I still long to put on an "arsequake" (pfft) night in London. Book Todd or Shit & Shine, play stuff on Amrep, Buttholes, Killdozer, Jesus Lizard, Happy Flowers etc. All ten of us that go will love it :)

admitting you were wrong: music you used to like and now hate

NoMeansNo? Now they were and are awesome.. One of the most musically inventive bands I've ever seen. Just a shame they got lumped in with all the dross...

admitting you were wrong: music you used to like and now hate

see, I still stand by "the originals" - NoFX, Bad Religion. But most of that west coast ramalama bigshorted kiddy punk really was bollocks. I still love Snuff too

    Being unemployed...

might as well join the club! Was off work with depression beginning of 2009. Then I went to Wales to put on a party, fell off a ladder, smashed my leg, nearly got it amputated 3 different times and ended up in hospital for 4 months, 5 major ops, all that caper. Meanwhile, got made redundant...

admitting you were wrong: music you used to like and now hate

I had an uncle who I guess was, in his time, quite cool for his age: in his 40s-50s in the seventies, listening to Barclay James Harvest, Cat Stevens, Manfredd Mann's Earth Band, Al Stewart. Sadly, my mates were into some horrible stuff so my uncle became my main musical influence. So I was a...

    Glastonbury 2010...

actually, I was unfair - there's some decent hiphop on some of the stages in the Dance Village. Yeh, never seen Snoop live and he might get away with it, but the Glastonbury punters who go to the main stage, plonk themselves down with a coolbox, a blanket and a shit hat for 3 days may not warm...

    Glastonbury 2010...

Jay-Z was great, they've got Snoop almost singlehandedly representing hip hop this year. Not sure he'll go over quite as well :D

films you've seen recently and would NOT recommend

I wouldn't bother with Kick Ass (and i wonder why I did - let's blame lack of adult choice at cinemas during school holidays and move on). Promising start and mildly entertaining final 20 minutes (some genuinely creative violence, if you like that sort of thing) but the middle, what, 80 minutes...
