    what are you reading now?

I didn't like the book at all...found it rather boring. On the Tarkovsky/Lit theme, I recently read 'Roadside Picnic' and thought the writing very average...but Tarkovsky turned into something amazing...(Stalker)...

Films you've seen recently and would unreservedly recommend:

Starting my Demy odyssey, I really enjoyed Lola the other night...a quite magical rehearsal (of sorts) for the films to come...introducing elements such as music and a passion for Hollywood and American culture along with the romantic fatalism...

    Ergodic Literature/House of Leaves

I've got Tree Of Codes...bought it out of curiosity rather than a great urge to read it all...The Guardian reviewer mistakenly referred to Gysin & Burroughs, but this is about the act of removal, rather than rearrangement or cut-up of text. He basically makes his own form of 'poetic' prose from...

    what are you reading now?

'The Shootist' by Glen Swarthout...a Western, yes, but a 'modern' ('75) one, by which I mean something very different from cowboy heroics. If you seen the film starring John Wayne you'll know the story, but the novel is very good too...

    Roiling football blather

They have turned a corner...going the wrong way. They were shockingly dull last night, with no midfield control, constantly caught in possession, and no clue going forward...Cech resorting to hoofing the ball upfield in the vain hope that it might bounce off a defender and go in, perhaps. Kalou...

what the f**k is the time anyway?

It's a trick of the mind...so Rip Rig & Panic once said...and I'm inlcined to agree...

    what you currently enjoying ?

'Taxi Driver' soundtrack, having recently bought 'Primitive London', some of which contains a striking similarity to Herrmann's theme.

    What are you writing?

Shadows A project I've been working on (and off) for the last couple of years. It's not a novel. It's something else.

    what you currently enjoying ?

Enjoying Zorn's 'Interzone'....which isn't as great as I wanted it to be but is growing and there are great parts. I don't think anyone's done Bill justice musically, yet. The 'Naked Lunch' soundtrack being the best.

    Cassettes

Taping my favourite tunes off the chart show on Sunday night was always fun. Must admit, the sight of the one posted earlier did send a bolt of nostaglia straight through my heart. Now they seem to be symbols of some kind of 'cred', either as limited releases or in the sense of 'I've got DJ...

Films you've seen recently and would unreservedly recommend:

'The Lives Of Others' I know, I seem to be the last person on earth to have watched this but in case you're even slower than me it's a must-see depiction of life in East Berlin under the all-seeing eye of the Stasi...brilliant cinematography, direction, acting and props, yes props...it made me...

    Misinformation

Anyone else got it yet? Baron Mordant has created new soundtracks for re-edited COI films. Works brilliantly, on the whole, although I'm unsure about a couple. My review's here if you're interested.

Films you've seen recently and would unreservedly recommend:

I certainly don't regret missing it - wouldn't touch it with a barge full of Polish films - ha-ha... On Scorsese, had similar thoughts as to his demise myself, although The Departed is good, and so is Casino, but other than that...mind you, 'Boardwalk Empire' is supposed to be great...
