Roll Deep/Ruff Sqwad combo show on Rinse last night was dutty, when I tuned out at 12ish they were still going.
Highlight was Maximum dropping the Tingz in Bootz riddim and Stryder and Slew Dem spitting on it.
Wd25
Is the WD25 riddim going to get a vinyl release or is it only going to be found on the true tiger cd comp?
One of the best bits of grime-related music I've heard in ages.
Good producers will get bass weight from a normal mixdown/burn to cd. Though I know a good mastering engineer can work miracles, no doubt.
Though I'd say plastic people and DMZ systems have a lot to do with how people hear dubstep in London at least. We are blessed.
Dubstep strikes me as interesting in this regard as it is so based around vinyl - which I think is cool - but even at DJ level. When I started going to fwd I was suprised by the amount of 10" on the decks.
In drum and bass as far as I can tell no one really cuts dubs anymore - all the DJs...
Gerald would have helped his case (whatever he was on about) in that bloated press release if he could back it up with quality product. As it is the track he's released is a pile of unmitiaged mediocrity. Contrary to what he thinks there ARE small groups of producers at least making intereasting...
Paradox/Seba/Nucleus in whatever combination are consistently excellent.
Fracture & Neptune, Breakage, Macc, Fanu, Equinox, Senses are all superb. And Polska is a genius, the only disapointing thing is hes only had two releases.
As Plasticman says it was late when Youngsta came on...like 2am or something on a week night ffs. It did empty out a bit but so what, it was still busier than at 1:30am on a normal fwd night.
Anyway why should people tailor their sets - it makes for such medicore middle of the road music, you...
I hope the 38 isn't being dropped because its a pretty useful route.
I know they are getting rid of the routemasters on there (its the last routemaster afaik) but they'll just replace them with more up to date buses - can't see them dropping it.
That excerpt from Vice strongly implies they put the night on so they could have a Nathan Barley-style laugh at these grime guys in some ironic fashion...and now they are doing all they can to milk it as some soap opera business.
Wankers.
Hi first post and all that.
It was certainly busier and livlier than the average fwd, especially when Geeneus and roll deep were on.
Didn't notice any trouble inside the club itself, only heard about some incident outside afterwards.
Very rare for this sort of thing to happen in Old Street...
