    Vex'd - Degenerate

I would consider part of this to be down to Vex'd releases on substatic being the first releases (by about 6 months) to get any form of distribution. I still think the first two twelves were the best they have done, but am interested to hear the album. As for Burial, the twelve has only been...

    Annie

I kind of like Annie's tunes, but not so much I would buy the album. I am not really a cheery pop person. As for Phoenix, I really don't get the appreciation. they're so bland! I should say, I suppose, that my main link of listening to Annie and things was from op:l bastards / and the left...

    Poor State of Grime

That was one thing that was commented on. It is all DVDs at the moment - understandable as they are dirt cheap to produce, easy to flex the volume of, and carry more. But, of course it is all still about vinyl. Especially dubstep (for me) anyhow.

    Poor State of Grime

Both Grime and Dubstep are quiet right now Earlier in the year I would easily be able to spend £50 in Uptown each time I went in. There is no turnover of vinyl in there at the moment. It seems to have gone through a quite surprising lull, although I suppose things were coming out at...

    nick kilroy

I think I made my thoughts pretty clear on this article on the Vice thread in the thought section, and I got the kind of response that confirmed my opinions on Vice editorial.

'the' juan maclean- less than human

the Juan Maclean are one of the better parts of the DFA empire to my mind. I haven't got the album as yet, but have pretty high expectations from it.

    Anyone going to FWD?

"rotten tomatoes and large sharp stones" Yeah, as above. Seems someone really didn't like the idea of Logan playing grime at forward. Would have been keen to make it, but it looks like all my effort will be to get home.

Oh fuck, I hope everyone's alright.

Yeah, I am OK. Locked into a building in Canary Wharf where everything has been stopped. No through traffic, no nothing.

    Kozyndan

I have really liked quite a bit of their stuff for quite some time, without twigging that the big monster scenes and rabbit images are from one and the same. My friend's shop stocks quite a lot of their work. It is really good in real life - very glossy.

has hip hop been "aesthetically brutalised"?

And I thought dissensus was meant to be above the stupid fighting of internet personas. I kind of expected RV to be above this kind of crap, but I am clearly wrong. Can you take the petty squable elsewhere, as this thread was, at one point, pretty interesting.

has hip hop been "aesthetically brutalised"?

Is it just me, or has Rachel Verinder kind of verified this point?! :p

    Target at FWD!

From the way the thread went and the discussion mms and kode9 had on here, the feeling is that it is clearly the breaks kids who have a problem with the movement towards any grime DJ or MC playing FWD. Dubstep and Grime are riding high at the moment, and FWD have moved their sights to bring...

Fear and Loathing by Paul Perry

Well of course it was - that was part of the genius behind the whole story. He was meant to be writing about a car race, but went on an adventure of his own. To actually think that the real story was anything like described would be distressing.

Why does everything happen for free?

Paypal to this day annoys me hugely. I was in an entrepreneurial competition many years ago - It was 1999 I think. I got to the final of it - it was Europe wide, and my proposition was pretty simple. A secure payments system between parties that did not involve the disclosure of credit card...

    Walkman chic

Hmm, my six year old, original model recordable version gave up in November. It refused to work, no explaination at all. Wouldn't charge or play. I was gutted. My brother bought me an ipod when he came back from the US though. i don't use it that much at the moment, to be honest.

    Ripuasa

Well, all I can say in terms of writing style: I have managed happily to read energy flash, and am strolling through Rip it Up... I managed half a review by Ben Watson and I started to find his writing somewhat self agrandising and arrogant. maybe that's me, or maybe that's why RIUASA sells...

WOEBOT and Heronbone at Rinse FM.

Haha - when I picked up a copy of FACT I thought 1Xtra might not be happy at that slight! Pretty much on the mark of what everyone believes, it will be interesting to see if the response digs them into a hole regarding nicking Rinse DJs

    london alfresco nerd-together #2 - who's up in dis(sensus's) bitch?

Aye, go on. Will have to get to Ackney though, won't I. For some reason (boredom I think) I am going to the Wireless thing on Saturday to remind myself why I should never think of going to Glastonbury, probably.

    Kraftwerk sightings

It's a live greatest hits really Matt. the sound on it is collosal though - and the four vinyl packaging is glorious. I am surprised how much play I am giving my copy, considering I have the majority of their albums in both English and German!
